Class V A Period: 5th
Class Strength: 31
Subject: Mathematics Topic: Metric
Units
On 5th
September, 2019 in the 5th period, I taught Class V mathematics on
the topic “Metric Units” for duration
of forty minutes. Before the lesson, I have set up the Projector ready in order
to deliberate the lesson effectively and successfully. I began the lesson by
revising the previous lesson and making a link to what they were going to
learn. In the lesson development, I have presented the lesson using ‘projector’ and I have explained on the
concept of Metric units, its standard units, the reason we use the metric system
of measurement for, and demonstrated few examples on metric measurement
relationships that are based on multiplying and dividing by 10s, 100s, 1000s, and so on showing the place
value chart as shown below :
The chart below shows the names of metric
length units based on the meter.

I have prepared two
activities, first activity is where children are going to read the statements and
fill in the blanks with appropriate measurement from the list provided. Then the second activity is where children
are asked to convert measurements from one unit to another unit. In the lesson
closure, I have asked few questions to check the understanding of the lesson
taught.
While
reflecting and analyzing good and bad points of my lesson, I have come to know
some of the good parts where I should keep on practicing.
- I
could introduce the lesson meaningfully by revising the previous lesson and
making a link to what they were going to learn.
- Instructions were clearly given.
While reflecting
on
the integration of ICT facilities in the lesson, I observed that class became more
interactive and shows keen interest towards learning. Children
were able to give more information on the concept while asking questions and gone through their written work, as compared to the lesson
without integration of ICT in lesson.
Thank You.
The lesson seems interesting sir and you have rightly stated that integration of ICT to teach the students is a blessing in disguise. ICT arises children's interest and in some ways it acts as an energiser in the classroom. I have experienced the good combination of ICT and mathematics. Anyways, nice initiative sir.
ReplyDeleteLCD projector is taking centre stage for teachings. Relevant teaching points and figures can be projected large enough so that children could see well and take note of important points.

ReplyDeleteThank you all for your valuable comments.I will take it positively and move for further improvement.
ReplyDeleteWell reflected lesson with your strength and weaknesses. It's great to know that your students were so interactive in learning. It's also nice to hear that your students performed well with ICT integration than without ICT integrated lesson... So don't give up your new method of teaching
ReplyDeleteToday's lesson with ICT plays the vital role in the learning process and that's what your lesson has critically done it. Keep going la.
ReplyDeletewow sir you are lucky that you have facilities like that in your school which it helps you to enhance your teaching and learning. keep going la.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting to go through your post and happy to learnt that children are learning mathematics through use ICT in the classroom. Keep growing.
ReplyDeleteWow your lesson looks interesting with the use of projector,Keep going.
ReplyDeleteIt to know that you had great time with your children as you incorporated the use of ICT in your lesson
ReplyDeleteI think using this type of strategy is first to self and students too, that's the reason your lesson went well. If we use ICT in our classroom it has many advantages whereby children can come up with lots of questions. I have experienced such things in my teaching. Good on practising.
ReplyDeleteIt really makes a difference sir when we use ICT in our teaching.
ReplyDeleteIn you case also the children could answer which was an achievement for you.
Great job.
Good reflection sir. Knowing our own strength and weaknesses will ultimately bring changes in teaching and learning. Ict brings variation in our teaching whereby all the students become interactive and improves their learning. As we progresses We can feel the taste of ict What does. So don't give up your new method of teaching.keep going la.
ReplyDeleteTeaching using projector can enhance students in their learning.
ReplyDeleteUsing ICT in our teaching has a great impact on our learners. You have rightly used the ict tools in correct ways. As you have mentioned that linking the lesson with previous one was so important as it clearly guide us throughout the teaching. However to have more effective if you could use few short clips it would be make your teaching more interesting as well clear many doubts that your children might have. Great work!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your valuable comments.
ReplyDeleteYou made a great effort preparing lesson through ICT.Loved it.
ReplyDeleteICT is very useful tool for teaching and makes teaching realistic. The way you have used ICT in your teaching is relevant and looks students reallly enjoyed the lesson.
ReplyDeleteYour statement saying, "Integration of ICT to teach the students is a blessing in disguise". It's true and quite touching phrase sir.As you said, if we all put into practice, then our children will be blessed with ICT learning.
ReplyDeleteICT arises children's interest and in some ways it acts as an energizer in the classroom thus adding extra charm in their learning. I have experienced the good combination of ICT in mathematics though I have not used yet in Mathematics lesson. Here after even I will try to use ICT in my class one's Mathematics.
Anyways, nice initiative sir. Keep progressing...
Wow, You had really made a lot of efforts in preparing your Mathematics lesson through the use of ICT tools and skills. Your children are really lucky enough having you as their Mathematics teacher sir.
ReplyDeleteKeep going...
