Sixth reflection on integration of ICT in classroom teaching
Date: 22nd October, 2019 (Tuesday).
 Class V B                    Period: 1st                    Class Strength: 30
Subject: Mathematics           Topic: Chapter 1 Interpreting Data.     Sub topic: The mean
With the changing learner and learner environment, technology has become part of our daily life. As we become increasingly supported by ICT, teaching and learning will not be the same as before. We will have to make use of the rich and exciting opportunities offered by the new technologies in education to reach our new goal and vision. Therefore, we should integrate ICT in our classroom teaching to enhance learning.
On 22nd October, 2019 in the 1st period, I taught Class V mathematics on the topic “The Mean” for duration of forty minutes. Before the lesson, I have set up the Projector and internet facilities   ready in the ICT laboratory in order to deliberate the lesson effectively and successfully.

In the 1st period, I took the students of class 'V’ B’ to the ICT laboratory for the lesson to be delivered. I began the lesson by revising the previous lesson and making a link to what they were going to learn. Then I gave the instructions on how to go about the activity on exploring and getting the information by browsing the internet. I have prepared three activities; first activity is where children are going to browse the internet and find the information on the concept of Mean and how to find the mean.

Then the second activity is where I will be presenting my information on the concept of mean and how to find the mean of the given set of data showing few examples through using projector and asked children to compare and observe carefully on how to calculate the mean of the given set of data.

Third activity is I have  projected the questions on the screen and asked children to calculate the mean of the given set of data as shown below.
  • Calculate the mean of each  set of data.

a)      12, 15, 20, 25       b) 38, 40, 43, 47, 57   c) 12, 16, 22, 28, 35, 37

During the follow up of the activity I made some students to stand up and  read out the information they have gathered from the internet and  read out their written answers to the whole class.  After that I have projected   my answers on the screen and made them to compare and do necessary correction  in their note book.

In the lesson closure, I have asked questions to check the understanding of the lesson taught and gave few questions from the text book as a home work.

While reflecting on the integration of ICT in the lesson, I find projectors and internet to be very useful classroom devices/tool.  With the integration of ICT in my lesson I have observed that class becomes more interactive by exploring themselves through internet and they could come up with lot of information to share to the whole class. It played an important role in delivering the lesson content through images and saves time and children were able to give more information on the concept taught. It has also made both the learner and teacher to carry out the tasks effectively in enhancing their teaching learning processes.

               Thank You

Fifth reflection on integration of ICT in classroom teaching.
 Date: 9th October, 2019 (Wednesday).
 Class V B                    Period: 2nd                   Class Strength: 30
Subject: Mathematics                                                 Topic: Parallel and Intersecting Lines.

Transmission of knowledge from a teacher to the learners won’t take place if a teacher lacks the sound knowledge of teaching students using different approaches and the teacher can’t make any progress in his teaching if he doesn’t reflect back and do analysis on his way of teaching. So in this piece of writing, I would like to reflect on the integration of ICT in classroom teaching.

On 9th October, 2019, I have planned my lesson for Class V mathematics on the topic “Parallel and Intersecting Lines” with the integration of ICT for a duration of forty minutes.
In the 2nd period, I took the students of class V’ B’ to the ICT laboratory for the lesson to be delivered. I began the lesson by revising the previous lesson and making a link to what they were going to learn. Then I gave the instructions on how to go about the activity on exploring and getting the information by browsing the internet. First I informed the children to find what is parallel line? Followed by what is an intersecting line? Then asked them to write the information collected from the internet to write in their note book. After that I asked them to find what is perpendicular? Finally asked them to find out in what different ways a perpendicular line segments can intersect? And asked them to write all the information collected in their note book.

During the follow up of the activity I made some students to stand up and read out the information they have gathered from the internet. In the lesson closure, I have shared my points with them and asked few questions to check the understanding of the lesson taught.

While reflecting on the integration of ICT in the lesson, I find the class was very interactive and children were actively participated in the lesson. They were able to come up with lot of information on the concept to be taught as I desired. It has really motivated the children in teaching learning processes. I have found that there is a rise in new learning opportunities beyond the traditional teaching method. It has enable learners to access, extend, transform and share ideas and information in multi-modal communication styles and format. It has helped the learner to share learning resources and spaces, promote learner centered and collaborative learning principles and enhance learning system.

                                                                   Thank You.
