Fourth Reflection on ICT integration in classroom teaching
Date: 19th September, 2019 (Thursday).
 Class V A                    Period: 1st                    Class Strength: 31
  Subject: Mathematics                                    Topic: Classifying Triangles.
With the changing learner and learner environment, technology has become part of our daily life. As we become increasingly supported by ICT, teaching and learning will not be the same as before. We will have to make use of the rich and exciting opportunities offered by the new technologies in education to reach our new goal and vision. Therefore, we should integrate ICT in our classroom teaching to enhance learning.

On 19th September, 2019 in the 1st period, I taught Class V mathematics on the topic “Classifying triangles” for duration of forty minutes. Before the lesson, I have set up the Projector ready in order to deliberate the lesson effectively and successfully. I introduce the lesson by asking questions and making a link to what they were going to learn. In the lesson development, using the ‘projector I have explained three types of triangles by the number of congruent sides and angles using a sketch of example.

I have prepared two activities, first activity is where children are going to measure the side lengths of the given/provided triangles and then classify. Then the second activity is where children are asked to complete the chart as shown below:

Equilateral triangle
Isosceles triangle
Scalene triangle
Number of congruent sides

Number of congruent angles

Number of lines of symmetry

During follow up of the activity I made some students to stand up and read out their written answers. In the lesson closure, I have asked few questions to check the understanding of the lesson taught.

While reflecting on the integration of ICT in the lesson, I find projectors to be very useful classroom devices/tool. By using projector I have observed that class becomes more interactive and children enjoyed learning. It plays an important role in delivering the lesson content through images and saves time and children were able to give more information on the concept taught.

                                      Lesson using projector (OHP)
        Date: 5th September, 2019 (Thursday).
       Class V A                    Period: 5th                    Class Strength: 31
       Subject: Mathematics                                        Topic: Metric Units

On 5th September, 2019 in the 5th period, I taught Class V mathematics on the topic “Metric Units” for duration of forty minutes. Before the lesson, I have set up the Projector ready in order to deliberate the lesson effectively and successfully. I began the lesson by revising the previous lesson and making a link to what they were going to learn. In the lesson development, I have presented the lesson using ‘projector’ and I have explained on the concept of Metric units, its standard units, the reason we use the metric system of measurement for, and demonstrated few examples on metric measurement relationships that are based on multiplying and dividing  by 10s, 100s, 1000s, and so on showing the place value chart as shown below :

The chart below shows the names of metric length units based on the meter.

I have prepared two activities, first activity is where children are going to read the statements and fill in the blanks with appropriate measurement from the list provided.  Then the second activity is where children are asked to convert measurements from one unit to another unit. In the lesson closure, I have asked few questions to check the understanding of the lesson taught.

While reflecting and analyzing good and bad points of my lesson, I have come to know some of the good parts where I should keep on practicing.
  •   I could introduce the lesson meaningfully by revising the previous lesson and making a link to what they were going to learn.
  •  Instructions were clearly given.

While reflecting on the integration of ICT facilities in the lesson, I observed that class became more interactive and shows keen interest towards learning. Children were able to give more information on the concept while  asking questions and gone through their written work, as compared to the lesson without integration of ICT in lesson.

                                              Thank You.
